Types of timber flooring
Floating timber floor (Laminate) - A 4mm veneer of timber adhered onto plank board and factory sealed and polished. It is available in many colours and finishes and is laid as a 'floating sheet' on foam underlay for cushioning and sound absorption. Popular for dining rooms, kitchens and living areas, it is easy to maintain.
Overlay timber floor - Solid timber planks 12 - 14mm thick, which are glued directly to the subfloor, sanded and polished onsite. Not as resilient as a floating floor (laminate), however providesa higher end result.
Parquetry - comes in a range of wood types and stains. Hardwood blocks are laid to achieve a range of patterns and styles, and can be installed directly over most level sub-floors.
Cork - is the quietest and softest of wood flooring. Available in tile or sheet form, cork is a timber alternative. Cork is the least resilient of the timber alternatives, nevertheless a popular feature material.
