Types of timber flooring
Floating timber floor (Laminate) - a 4mm veneer of timber adhered onto plank board and factory sealed and polished. It is available in many colours and finishes, and is laid on foam underlay for cushioning and sound absorption. Suitable for commercial applications in need of flooring with a good wear factor.
Overlay timber floor - Solid timber planks 12 - 14mm thick, which are glued directly to the subfloor, sanded and polished onsite. Not as resilient as a floating floor (laminate), however provides a higher end result.
Parquetry - comes in a range of wood types and stains. Hardwood blocks are laid to achieve a range of patterns and styles, and it can be installed directly over most level sub-floors.
Cork - is the quietest and softest of wood flooring. Available in tile or sheet form, cork is a timber alternative. Cork is the least resilient of the timber alternatives, nevertheless a popular feature material.
